Let's face it, life is so hectic that good intentions frequently fall by the wayside right from the start of the day - breakfast. The night before the plan was to prepare a super healthy "bircher muesli" with grated apple, chopped fruit, nuts, and oats (all wonderful) but when the morning whirlwind of reality struck, out came the box of famous brand cereal, loaded with salt, sugar, fat, refined carbs, and not much else.... Familiar?
But whether you are pregnant, a new postnatal mum, or a working mum juggling paperwork, potties and cooking pots, you really do need to fuel your body the right way from the word GO, and it's got to be quick and easy with no mess. So here's what i did this morning, and it took about 3 minutes to prepare, 2 minutes to gulp down and 30 seconds to clear the mess up afterwards. Perfect!
1 apple, core removed, peel on
1 peeled kiwi
a palmful of raw cashew nuts
a teaspoon of chia seeds (if you happen to have any)
250ml of water
Pop everything into the blender (the one you used for making baby food!) and whizz everything up until smooth(ish).
Gulp down at top speed if you are in a hurry!
Well, of course it's very quick to prepare and even quicker to consume - much more so than chomping through a bowl of commerical cereal but it's also SUPER HEALTHY:
