Introducing life coach for children and author, Naomi Richards...

Let’s hear a bit about your background….

Before I became a life coach for children I worked in the corporate world as a marketing consultant for the finance and telecoms sectors. Once married and on the way to becoming a parent I decided I no longer wanted to work for anyone else or work long hours in the city so I decided with a baby bump to re-train as a life coach. I wanted to specialise in children as I have a creative mind and have a strong rapport with children – I get them and they get me – and I wanted to be able to facilitate children to make changes in their lives for the better as well as helping them have the life skills they need to go through life. I started coaching in 2004 and the business has been growing ever since. I run my business around my children. I take them and pick them up from school every day and try to lead a healthy work/life balance.

And what about your field of expertise? How did that come about?

Whilst in the corporate environment I realised I was good at helping others work towards solving their own problems and I had many year’s experience of working with children informally. When I put my skills and passion together I realised that I could possibly do both – I could coach children.

What do you most love about life?

I love the variety in my work and also have the balance to be with my children. I hold strong values when it comes to my family and it is really important to me to help my children be the best that they can be and watch them grow into amazing human beings.

OK, so what about the not-so-good-bits?

I don’t have enough time in the day to do everything I want to do and I am useless to anyone on less than 8 hours sleep.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Writing my book is my work one. A more personal one is having great children and finding a wonderful supportive husband!

What is your next big goal in life?

To bring out a tangible product for families to use.

Coffee, tea or herbal infusion?

Tea!

Dark, milk or white chocolate?

Milk, definitely

What word or phrase do you most overuse?

That’s amazing

What is the most important lesson that life has taught you?

Be grateful for what you have and treat each day as if is your last.

What is your work or business philosophy?

Work hard but play hard too

What one piece of advice would you pass on to others?

Keep going, don’t give up on your dreams.
