Warm Christmassy Fruit Salad

At this time of year I’m not keen on chomping through chilly fruit salad from the fridge – I can practically feel it making its way through me like a mouthful of ice. Nope, in December what I want is a lovely, warm, spiced mix of fruits and nuts that feels like a comforting cuddle!

This is it!

Ingredients

  • A mix of wintery/autumnal fruits such as:
  • Apples
  • Red blush pears
  • Oranges
  • Clementines
  • Kumquats (optional!)
  • Dried apricots or dates
  • Almonds
  • Star anise – 2 or 3
  • Cinnamon sticks

Step 1

Slice your chosen fruit prettily – cored apple rings, wedges of pear and slices of orange – and pop everything into a saucepan with a little water and the spices.

Step 2

Simmer gently until cooked but not mushy.

This is lovely served warm. I’ve been eating it with porridge oats for breakfast this week but it also makes for a delicious dessert served with a dollop of Total Greek yogurt.
