Namita is Mum-to-Be of the Month! Congratulations!

Hi Namita! First of all, congratulations on being Mum-to-Be of the month x 2! You’re expecting twins…tell me, how many weeks are you now and how are you feeling?

So I am 29 weeks now and still plodding on! Officially on an 8 week countdown to twin full term which is at 37 weeks. Feel slightly anxious that time has already flown by so quickly and we are already here but as we now have our bags packed, have built the cot and the buggy, it's becoming even more real that this is happening to us - we really are having two babies (non-identical and we don't know what).

I have no one secret to having a good pregnancy to date (touch wood it continues) to share however I believe the detox I went on before I became pregnant went along way to helping me stand in good stead (more on that later). I was such a control freak before getting pregnant, needing to know A-Z and having an organised plan in place for almost everything but now I am the complete opposite - my new found laid back attitude has definitely helped me. I haven't read all of the books from cover to cover as I previously would have or armed myself with all of the information I think I need to know. Instead, I've literally taken each day and what it throws at me, one day at a time. I haven't over indulged in junk food just because I can and until the snow a few weeks ago, I made a point of going out for a daily walk as well as Jo's Fit4Birth class I do. Maybe now is a good time to mention, my lovely husband who has been a great support throughout the pregnancy too.

What aspects of pregnancy are you enjoying?

I've loved seeing the babies grow at each scan (almost 3lbs each at the last one) and feeling the babies move. Baby 1 is more active than Baby 2 so its going to be really interesting to see if that changes once they are born.

And the not-such-fun bits?

I can't say the early few weeks of 'day' sickness and more recently the heart burn or 'throat burn' as I like to call it have been a nice experience but it's been all part of the experience.

What’s been your favourite pregnancy gadget?

Pregnancy gadget: For being such a tech nerd, I can't believe I don't have one. Does a baby name app on my phone count? :)

You do your pregnancy fitness with me but have you always been active or is this new?

I knew I wanted to carry on with some kind of fitness as soon as I became pregnant but had to wait until the 12 week milestone. I was a regular gym goer with my 7am spin class but with 2 babies I was advised to tone it right down. No more 50mile bike rides on the road so you can imagine how keen we are to get on our bikes with our baby seats on the back (I don't think I could pull a trailer with 2).

Are you into healthy eating? What’s your all-time favourite dish?

A few months before I became pregnant, I had undertaken an intense week of a juicing detox which then saw my diet completely change and loose some of the extra weight I had gained over a period of time. The new regime was slightly turned on it's head once I became pregnant but I still try and have at least one daily smoothie/fresh juice and a good intake of fruit and veg. I've never been a big fan of junk food and rarely have takeaways so you are going to say I am your good healthy eater! I don't really have an all time favourite dish but I love any of my mums curries and wish mine were as good as hers!

How do you find combining pregnancy with work?

I am really fortunate and by some kind of fate to have a Manager who is dad to twins which has helped immensely at work. He is the over protective boss who understands all of the extra appointments I have had to have, the one who has to tell me to take it easy and the one who wants to talk babies when we are meant to be having a meeting about work! He's happy for me to work from home as and when needed and couldn't be more supportive which has made working whilst pregnant relatively easy and more importantly, stress free!

Are you looking forward to maternity leave?

I am really looking forward to maternity leave (not towards the end when the pay reduces and it means it's time to go back!) especially as I've started my handover at work and it's only now a few weeks away.

And what about the birth? Thinking about it or a case of bury your head in the sand?

The birth...hmmm. The laid back me is saying, just go with it but yes, I am terrified as I can't make a plan. It will depend nearer the time if I am able to give it a go on my own depending on Baby 1 being head down or if I will need a C-Section. I will have to remember that I will be in expert hands so doing whatever they say to make sure both babies are delivered safely is priority

What are you most looking forward to about motherhood?

I'm looking forward to bringing babies home and holding babies close and becoming a family.

We all need a bit of “me time” when we’re mums. What will you be squeezing into your “mummy me time”?

Mummy me time: boring but curling up on the sofa with a good book or having a movie night with hubby!
