Introducing forum expert Suzy Ashworth of The Calm Birth School

Let’s hear a bit about your background….

My name is Suzy Ashworth, I am a Mum to two and step mum to one.  Before babies, I worked in media, enjoyed a not in-frequent glass of pinot grito and a night out on the town…Oh how times have changed…Well, I still like a glass of pinot.

And what about your field of expertise? How did that come about?

I am a hypnotherapist, psychotherapist, pregnancy coach and hypnobirthing practitioner, which is a bit of a mouthful, so I tend to stick with pregnancy coaching.  Pregnancy coaching helps you prepare for a calm and positive birth experience, using hypnobirthing and hypnotherapy techniques.  Alongside making the transition to motherhood feel less jarring as you prepare for the unknown new chapter of your life.

What do you most love about life?

The thing I love most about life is exploring the new.  In the past travelling was the thing that helped plug that spot for me.  Now a days it’s thinking about how I can help my clients achieve their dreams in the new and innovative ways.

OK, so what about the not-so-good-bits?

I’ve never been a lover of housework….* note from editor (AKA Jo) "Here here!"

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Of course the things that come top of the tree are giving birth to both of my babies at home, using hypnobirthing techniques.  Non child related puff up my chest moment came around 8 months after my son was born, cycling from London to Amsterdam in 48 hours….I’m very proud of that one.

What is your next big goal in life?

The big vision for The Calm Birth School, is to change the way that women view and experience birth for the better
